Called La Verona, which means The Truth in Italian, this location conjures images of Romeo & Juliet.

Originally built over 100 years ago, The Marketplace on the Hill has had a varied history. In the past, it has housed a lumber company, a tools manufacturer and even a maker of battery locomotives for the mining industry! The Marketplace on the Hill is located in The Hill neighborhood, which is home to a large Italian-American population—and a large number of locally renowned Italian restaurants, bakeries, markets and bocce gardens. The Hill has also been home to some of St. Louis City’s most prominent residents, including baseball heroes Joe Gargiola and Lawrence “Yogi” Berra.

Our newest venue, poetically named La Verona, is a more contemporary addition to The Marketplace on the Hill. Like Oliva on the Hill, La Verona is inspired by the beauty and charm of Italy and features high-beamed ceilings, rustic brick and graceful architectural details. La Verona, however, also gives you spacious rooms with clean lines and an outdoor area lit with string lights. It features large windows, specialty lighting, an end-cut wood block floor and a warehouse loft space.
